SYNOPSIS
This two-act play is a comedy/drama about an evolutionary biologist (Thomas) who returns home to North Carolina to try to stop his 17-year old brother (John David) from marrying the 18-yfear-old preacher’s daughter (Charlene).  While there, he clashes with his evangelical mother (Martha) and his estranged Baptist preacher stepfather (J.D.)
Thomas argues his agnostic beliefs with his Christian mother, in a laugh-out-loud fashion, with some southern witticisms tossed in by his 11-times-married Aunt (Lucille) who has an Elvis Presley fetish.  Thomas also has a heart-wrenching face off with his younger brother, who forces him to confront a dark moment from his past which turns his entire world viewpoint on its ear.   Love, laughs, forgiveness, heartache, all in a play where Thomas and Martha reach a new understanding about God, family and belief as Elvis sings “farther along we’ll know all about it...” from a liquor decanter/music box.
